Queen Mary of Denmark, born Mary Elizabeth

 Queen Mary of Denmark, born Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, is the wife of King Frederik X and has been the Queen consort of Denmark since January 14, 2024. Born on February 5, 1972, in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, Mary is the first Australian-born queen consort of any country.



*Early Life and Education*


Mary grew up in a Scottish family and was educated at the University of Tasmania, where she graduated with a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degree. She worked in advertising and marketing before meeting Crown Prince Frederik at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.


*Royal Life and Philanthropy*


Mary and Frederik married on May 14, 2004, and have four children: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine. As Queen, Mary supports various charitable organizations, including the United Nations Population Fund, the World Health Organization, and the Danish Refugee Council. She founded the Mary Foundation in 2007, which aims to improve lives affected by social isolation or exclusion.

Mary has received several honors, including being voted Woman of the Year 2008 by the Danish magazine Alt for damerne. She has also been recognized for her fashion sense, appearing on Vanity Fair's annual International Best-Dressed List ¹.
